Bermuda belongs to all of usOctober 26, 2007Dear Sir,

Bermuda belongs to all of us

October 26, 2007

Dear Sir,

In his pre-election speech Dr. Ewart Brown told his supporters that "they" (no doubt he meant the UBP, wealthy businessmen and white people in general) that "they" wanted to take away what rightfully belonged to them, Bermuda. Dr. Brown, get a life, Bermuda belongs to all of us, blacks, whites, PLP, UBP, businessmen, workers, males and females, ALL OF US!

This country does not belong to the PLP or blacks in particular. If he is making reference to the wealthy by "they" then I wish to remind Dr. Brown's supporters that our Hon. Premier was in fact making reference to himself.

After all, our Premier lives in a beautiful and expensive home, owns a prominent business, travels first-class, drives a beautiful car(s), eats at the finest hotels and restaurants and plays golf and is a member of perhaps the most elite club in Bermuda, The Mid-Ocean CLub. Can black people in this country honestly believe that "they" are all dishonest, that "they" are all out to get you (PLP)? There are many honest God-fearing and caring people (blacks, whites and even other nationalities) who truly care about this country and the well-being of its people.

I am not a member of any political party and therefore not bound to its political agendas. I do however believe and hope that "we" and "they" will allow common sense and integrity to be our guide and rule in the next general election. If the people vote PLP so be it and if UBP so be it. There is nothing that any politician or activist can say that will cause me to dislike or hate anyone, black, white or whatever their business or professional backgrounds may be. Bermuda's future is in the hands of our politicians to guide and direct us but we should all place God first in our political and other decisions. Thank you for your valuable space.

EDDIE
