Dear Sir,

My dad served in the US Navy in Bermuda between 1945 and 1948. He was a Seabee in CBMU540. He has always wanted to return to Bermuda but has never had the chance. He turned 80 this past August and for his birthday, he and his children and their spouses are taking a cruise to Bermuda! We are all so excited.

Daddy is very hopeful that he will be able to see some of the Baselands while we are there. Unfortunately, it will be a short time span. Our ship is to arrive there on October 30, 2007 at 1 p.m. and we leave on November 1, 2007 at 11.30 a.m.

While we are there he is hoping that he can meet some of the people who still live on the island, that were either in the Navy, or civilians, that he may have been acquainted with. Daddy's name is Ralph M. Parrish. When he first came to the island he was working in the Fuel Oil Department. His rank was Shipfitter 2nd Class. After some time he became a truck driver at Fort Bell and helped build the roads on the island. The last part of his time there he worked at the Fire Department driving a fire truck. Commander Douglas was in charge at the time.

Anyone interested in connecting with a sailor from the Second World War can reach him at parrishralph[at] yahoo.com. Our family is thrilled to visit your island and we so thank you for helping us make this daddy's best birthday present ever!
