<Kt-6>Visitor's View

The extra mile May 6, 2002Dear Sir,Bermuda, you are indeed blessed, not only by your natural beauty and your distinct architecture but, most importantly, you are blessed by your people. You smile at each other, you care for each other; you are a loving people.

Currently we are on our sailboat at anchor, waiting for a weather window to complete a trans-Atlantic voyage to Europe.

Last Friday, our dinghy motor broke and we did not have spare parts. Taking our dilemma to the Visitors Service Bureau in St. George’s we met Mrs. Maureen Harrison who not only understood the problem but offered to help us retrieve the necessary part, available only in Hamilton.

Mrs. Harrison phoned supply shops, located the part, telephoned her son who in turn picked up the part, delivered it to his father who in turn ensured the part was at the visitor centre on Saturday (Mrs. Harrison’s day off). It was there that we picked up the part.

It is indeed this type of caring for people that sets Bermuda apart from many other countries around the world. Bermuda, stand up and be proud of the many wonderful people that you have. Please continue to care for each other as well as your visitors for in that caring you will certainly survive and prosper in ways far beyond your wildest dreams. You will not have to endure the pain that is so prevalent in so many countries today. You are indeed a blessed Country.

Again, sincere thanks to the Harrison family for caring.
