VISITOR’S VIEWThe wrong signal May 7, 2002

Dear Sir,I have spent a week now on your Island and felt I must write to you concerning the need to add a service charge to your restaurant bills without the customer asking for it. I was really concerned when I had lunch a few days ago at Mickey’s on the Beach at the Elbow Beach Resort.

I went there to check it out as a possibility for my next visit and decided to have lunch at Mickeys. I had to order at the counter and it was brought out in a styrofoam take out dish, but was still charged the auto-gratuity. If it was takeout. Why a service charge? I ordered it and picked it up myself.

On the other side of the coin I ate at Monty’s; excellent service and food and I did not mind paying the service charge because I felt I got my money’s worth. The point I am trying to make is that the 15 percent service charge at Mickey’s makes me think again about returning to your Island, and perhaps your Tourism Department should address this problem. Thank you for allowing me to express myself.

P.S. I am retired and this is the first Letter to the Editor I have ever written.WildCat’s a blast May 25, 2002Dear Sir

I recently travelled to Bermuda for the first time and had a great trip! The Island is beautiful and the people were very friendly.

We decided to get a tour of the Island via the WildCat <$>boat. I want everyone to know that it was truly the highlight of our trip! We had such a great time and the ride was so exciting. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
