Long standing tradition July 9, 1999

I would like to reply to "Bermudian'' of Sandys Parish that had concerns about "Campers are an eyesore''.

I apologise if the campers look like an eyesore.

Camping at designated camp sites is allowed from the first Saturday in May to third Sunday in September each year including Chaplin Bay. Regulations governing camping require that one must obtain a paid permit for the time one would like to camp and an additional deposit is paid to ensure proper care of the camp grounds when they are occupied. Generators are not permitted, and those who attempt to use them, are dealt with by the park authorities.

I enjoy camping at Chaplin Bay and have done so for the past 25 years. We constantly replenish our water supply in large jugs and purchase ice to keep our food cold in appropriate coolers. Yes, we have a portable television operated by 12 batteries. This is the only luxury we have. We would not expect to enjoy electricity while camping.

"Bermudian'', Sandys Parish, this picture reflects the true camper in Bermuda and I have yet to meet tourist who think we are "where the poor live''. We greet them personally all day long while at camp. I would ask why you receive any complaints from the Tourism Department and whether in act you are a Bermudian.

I trust that with the information you are now armed with you would kindly inform any questionable tourist that this is a long standing, well organised and regulated Bermudian tradition.

You are invited to visit with me at our well kept Paget home for tea if you have any further questions.

LUCINDA WOOLRIDGE AND FAMILY Smith's Parish Harmony Club a class act August 1, 1999 Dear Sir, This letter is to express our sincere appreciation and admiration of the staff at the Harmony Club. As an international production company, we have been fortunate to work with both local and international film crews. In July we filmed a commercial with an Australian film company and our resident tennis professional Pat Rafter. As is the case with production, schedules can be unstable and unpredictable, we however were blessed with a team of cooperative, dedicated hospitality professionals at the Harmony Club.

Mr. Billy Griffith and Mr. Kevin Perl, General Manager and Reservations Manager respectively, were both patient and accommodating to both our company and the international film crew who were grateful for the collaborative efforts on these two gentleman's part after traveling almost 20 hours.

On behalf of Fresh Creations and the Baby Lemonade Film Company we would like to personally acknowledge the level of professionalism and hospitality given by the staff of the Harmony Club. Our recommendations and accolades of this Bermuda treasure will hold a permanent spot within the expectations of a truly class act.

SHARON TURNER Manager, Fresh Creations Shades of Nazi Germany "August 8, 1939 Dear Sir, How dare The Royal Gazette portray a nation's leader engaging in activities which are frowned upon by the God-fearing members of this community.

You should learn to respect the democratically chosen leaders of a Country and not try to drag them down in the media at every opportunity by showing them as they really are.

Why did you have to show nice Mr. Hitler in such a bad light, to the whole of the country? (drinking, gambling, committing crimes against Humanity, etc.) Should you escape a knock on the door at 4 a.m. I recommend that you be tied to the flagpole on Front Street and flogged for all to see, possibly by our Island's living martyr, Saint Jennifer de Champagne!
