Six weeks at sea
vessel.
Mr. Peter Drew, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Drew of Devonshire, learned how to conduct marine science research and how to sail and navigate the 135-foot vessel SSV Corwith Cramer .
Before boarding the ship, Mr. Drew and other students spent six weeks getting academically prepared at the Sea Education Association in Woods Hole, Massachusetts.
They set sail from Miami on February 10 and returned there on March 23 after two brief port stops.
Mr. Drew, a Hobart College Junior, was taking part in the full-credit undergraduate programme SEA Semester. As part of the sea component, he had duties on deck, in the scientific laboratory, and in the engine room and galley.
SEA offers college semester programmes five times a year.
The brigantine Corwith Cramer arrived at Penno's Wharf yesterday for a three-day visit.
