Support Masterworks March 7, 2001

My friend and I will leave Bermuda tomorrow after a wonderful week as visitors. We have enjoyed the natural beauty of the island, the friendliness of the people, and the interesting events sponsored by the Bermuda Department of Tourism. We shall never forget the kindness of the bus drivers who helped us figure out the bus token and exact change system, and the bus rider who gave us her paper tokens when we came up short on the exact change! I am writing today to tell you how important it is that efforts like the Masterworks Collection be supported. We attended a presentation on Monday at the Waterloo House where Tom Butterfield, Director, told of the Foundation and its goals. He showed slides of the acquisitions, and all in attendance were well impressed. It could do so much for Bermuda to continue to develop this collection which lends a cultural depth to the country unequalled by other, more transient, efforts.

My friend and I return often to Bermuda and over the years have come to hold Bermuda in a special place in our hearts.
