LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Praise for Postal Service
May 1, 2010
This was sent to George Outerbridge, Postmaster General and copied to The Royal Gazette.
Dear Sir,
Customers are quick to complain but slow to commend!
Bermuda Commercial Bank mailed important documents to its shareholders on Thursday, April 29. I received my document in my post office box, at Mangrove Bay Somerset, on Friday afternoon the 30th.
I have already congratulated Mrs. Thompson, the Postmistress in Somerset and thought you should be congratulated on behalf of the Bermuda Postal Service.
Dr. C.R.TERCEIRA
Chairman,
Bermuda Commercial Bank
You are wonderful folks!

Dear Sir,
During the week after Easter my husband and I visited Bermuda. We stayed in Hamilton and took the city bus every day on excursions around the Island. We were so impressed with how polite and helpful everyone was and there was one event that was particularly impressive. We mistakenly got on the wrong bus. Once the bus driver realised we would have been going the wrong way, she radioed her supervisor to get clarification. We got off the bus and were met by another gentleman who was aware of our problem and was going to help us. The next thing we know there is an empty bus that was going back to the yard and the driver offered to take us where we were going. We could not believe all this special attention for two confused tourists. This was just one of many great personal encounters with your citizens. Thank you Hamilton and Bermuda – you are wonderful folks.

Let's be honest, please

Dear Sir,
I'm amazed by George Jones' letter regarding the Regiment. The lack of honesty and bad analogy regarding Project Ride is hilarious at most. I have never personally attacked a person verbally or physically regarding conscription or the Regiment and I'll do my best not to in this case. However, George Jones writes that the Regiment instructs soldiers, both men and women. What he should be honest enough to say is, yes the Regiment does instruct conscripts and female volunteers.
Regarding his Opinion about the Regiment teaching integrity, discipline, courage, selfless commitment, and respect for others I will say this.
Integrity – address the sexual abuse claims.
Discipline – during my time in the Regiment I learned how to become a more disciplined drinker by not driving drunk because my barrack was a walk away
Courage – so now I'm brave enough to hold a gun and sleep in trees?
Selfless commitment – please, doesn't even deserve a comment.
Respect – now this is the most dishonest of all. How does George Jones define respect? I'd really like to know. Is it by yelling and cursing in someone's face, bribing them with cases of beer, really what? Or, disrespecting one's right to freedom?
About being responsible and accountable, again, I refer to the sexual abuse claims. The Regiment is a joke in its current stage. Can it work? Yes. But will it? Probably not, because there are full time people up there collecting salaries and enjoying their so called brotherhood. You know. The meeting of people they would have never met anywhere else. LOL … I hope Mr. Jones has enough integrity to be honest about the bad as much as he tries to promote the good.
