Parents to blame too March 24, 2000

I refer to your article of March 24, "Students suspended after drinks scandal''."Angry Parents -- because the school suspended students for having only one bottle of alcohol and only three were drunk''.

I refer to your article of March 24, "Students suspended after drinks scandal''.

"Angry Parents -- because the school suspended students for having only one bottle of alcohol and only three were drunk''.

Are these parents kidding, are they that insensitive and irresponsible! Maybe these parents need to go to counselling along with their children and take some responsibility here, not just these students. Don't they see the seriousness of this situation? Whether it is one bottle or 20 bottles of alcohol, whether it is one student or 20, this matter is extremely serious.

Alcohol in the school, drunken students, this is a dangerous matter and a major problem for the environment that we set for "our'' children. The education and behaviour we wish to develop in our children cannot be tarred by the allowance and or sneaking of alcohol into the school and should it be discovered in the schools, then both the students and the students' parents who introduce it into the school should be very seriously reprimanded.

Take responsibility parents, and finally let the school do their job. (It is about time a school took a serious stand in a matter such as this -- Bravo).

Maybe if they are allowed to do their job and these kids go to counselling, it will develop these students into positive productive adults. These students know if they have a serious alcohol problem. If they do not, then they have nothing to worry about.

If they do, then they are getting the help now instead of never. And maybe, if these parents go to counselling with their children, they will discover who their children really are and take time to be in the know as to what they are doing, who they are associating themselves with and prevent their children from blowing the most important time of their lives.

A VERY RESPONSIBLE PARENT Warwick Chequing out of bank March 16, 2000 Dear Sir, Now that the shareholders have divided up the $19 million profit and the 1,200 staff have digested their fare at the Southampton Princess, I reflect on the other investors that must keep a balance of $2,000 in their chequing account without any interest.

Surely this money from all the chequing account investors is earning profitable amounts for the other investors so they can divide yet more millions in profits. Let's go chequing account investors! Take to the streets, blow your horn, wear a blue nose, call your MP! EX-CHEQUER St. David's Mr. White is not Hester March 24, 2000 Dear Sir, I have grown a little tired of people insisting that they know for certain that I write The Royal Gazette's "Hester'' column.

You and I can assure them that I do not write "Hester'' nor do I contribute to the column.
