Exactly 175 years ago today the Chief Justice of Bermuda offered a choice to 78 enslaved men, women and children, who had been carried to Bermuda by a series of storms on the American brig, the Enterprize. From their arrival on February 11, 1835, all sectors of the community rallied together to ensure that those 78 persons had the opportunity to choose freedom.
Today, a cross-section of Bermudians explain what freedom means to them.
