Editorial: 'Coddling'

"We must do that which is in the best interests of the population rather than to be seen in any shape or form to be coddling a particular group of people."

So said the Bahamas' Minister of Tourism Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace on Sunday, as he ill-advisedly put his oar into the current controversy over the redundancies at the Department of Tourism's New York office.

The Bermuda Public Service Union may be surprised to learn that following the conditions of a union contract – and the Employment Act for that matter – would be viewed as "coddling" in the Bahamas.

And as the saying goes, with friends like these, Premier Dr. Ewart Brown does not need enemies.
