The impossible has become possible

We are from all indications, on the eve of a momentous, memorable historic event. When Senator Barack Obama publicly announced his candidature for President of the United States of America, most people thought it would be an impossible achievement.

The impossible has become possible with the likely election of Sen. Obama tomorrow.

Sen. Obama, who was born in humble circumstances, did not let circumstances of birth control his destiny.

He did not impose limits on his belief in what is possible and he did not waste time to ponder over that which has been denied.

Rather, he worked hard to achieve academic excellence, interpersonal and communication skills. After his formal education he seems to have dedicated himself to advancing society as a lawyer, a community organiser, a State Senator and the only black Senator of the United States Congress.

Sen. Obama is the total political package for the highest office in the United States of America. He is armed with an arsenal of energy, an abundance of intellect, common sense, charm and confidence, together with policies that seemingly the majority of Americans support.

It is a well-known fact from the history of blacks worldwide that they are severely disadvantaged.

Consequently, blacks from all walks of life everywhere, even some who do not agree with Senator Obama's political ideology, will feel a sense of pride if he is elected President of the USA, the most influential post in the world.

People around the world are watching this Presidential race more closely than any other in US history.

Sen. Obama is probably the most inspiring, the most captivating presidential candidate who has come along in our generation.

His likeability and magnetism has been clearly demonstrated by huge crowds that he has consistently attracted.

In fact, far bigger crowds than any other person who has run for the office of President of the United States of America.

I am hopeful that a victory for Sen. Obama will have a major positive impact on race relations around the world for the betterment of all people inhabiting this planet.

Moreover, it will instill a sense of purpose, pride, confidence and a drive for excellence in young people, especially young blacks.

Sen. Obama's achievements will, hopefully, make young blacks realise by their pursuit of excellence, they will transcend artificial barriers created by man.

To achieve excellence requires preparation. This means a good education, good work ethic, discipline, a sense of goodwill wherein you embrace all people irrespective of race, creed or religious affiliation.

The office of president of the United States of America has a very high profile that attracts the worldwide media. As a consequence, his words, his policies, his personal behaviour and his image can inspire individuals and can improve relations between individuals, groups and nations.

History has a way of matching man to moment. In this moment of world history, I sincerely hope that Barack Obama is that man who can inspire the world to a brighter future.
