VISITOR'S VIEW
You will overcome
February 22, 2010
Dear Sir,
I felt compelled to write this letter as latterly there seems to be more negative than positive news about Bermuda.
As a frequent visitor with my wife for well over 30 years we have seen changes, but they are all over the world, and for the worst, it seems.
With our closest friends we purchased a fractional at Tuckers Point five years ago and could not be happier to come to our second home more often.
To my point. We had another trip to the Rock on February 13 and got stranded at JFK coming from Boston because the Causeway was closed arriving the next day, the 14th. JetBlue put us up in a hotel at JFK, but in the meantime we met a couple and a single woman meeting a friend in Bermuda. These three visitors had never been to Bermuda before and were very disappointed and wanted to just go home or worst go onto another Island altogether. My wife Yvonne convinced them to wait and see Bermuda and try to see beyond the cold and bad news they read about in the paper that we feel is a minority causing the problem.
They did stay and arrived at Cambridge Beaches. The short of it, before they left, all three called several times and could not get over the Island's beauty and its people. They could not stop thanking us for convincing them come to Bermuda and are already planning a trip back. All three are seasoned travellers and were taken aback by Bermuda and especially its people.
My wife and I twice on this trip and once on the last seemed lost on our moped but we had taken a wrong turn and once had a bike problem and were greeted with Bermudians stopping to see if we were OK.
I could go on and on but my point is Bermuda's people are as wonderful as they have always been. Like all of us we sometimes lose our way but I am confident you all will unite together as one people not separate groups and overcome the small minority that is giving Bermuda a bad name.
To the Greatness of Bermuda and its people!
