Two more nifty KYMCO scooters to choose from

The Like 125 has a cool retro 1950s-style design.

KYMCO Bermuda will add two more scooters to its extensive range of motorcycles when the Like 125 and the Agility City 50 arrive later this month. The two models will complement the popular Like 50 and Agility City 150 that KYMCO already sells. The 4-stroke Like 125 a cool retro 1950s-style design with classical speed dials, chrome-plated headlight and indicator frames, 12-inch mag wheel and rib-style air vents on the distinctive curved rear body. The glovebox includes a handy 12-volt mobile phone battery charger and a generous 8-litre fuel tank. The Agility City will be one of the few two-stroke 50cc scooters on the local market as KYMCO’s engines are still clean enough to pass emissions laws which is a great benefit for the young riders who want the extra power to get over hills.Like its 4-stroke kin, the 50cc features the distinctive tall angular styling, diamond-shaped headlights and tall 16-inch wheels. The fuel tank tops out at nearly 6 litres and as with the Like, it comes with a 12-volt mobile phone battery charger in the front compartment. Both models feature KYMCO’s latest generation air-cooled, fuel-efficient engines that produce low CO2 emissions. The Like and Agility will join recent arrivals, the Super 8 50cc, the GTI and the People S 125 in the KYMCO showroom on Washington Lane, giving consumers a choice of more than a dozen different models ranging from 50cc through 150cc with prices starting as low as $2,500 (not including insurance and licensing). Prices have yet to be finalised on the new Like and Agility models.KYMCO manager Steve Holloway says customers are often surprised that KYMCO makes all the models on show. “They know the bikes by the name People or Agility, for example it doesn’t always register that these are all KYMCO bikes. But once they ride them they love them and realise that KYMCO produces top quality machines throughout the range that deliver great performance and long-term reliability.”In fact, he says, many people ride KYMCO engineering without realising it. The company made engines and small bikes under license for Honda for 30 years until creating their own brand in the early 1970s but still makes many of Honda’s engines.KYMCO also works closely with BMW and supplies the BMW/Husqvarna 450cc Enduro engines.Taiwan-based KYMCO (the name is short for Kwang Yang Motor Company) is now the fifth largest manufacturer in the motorcycle industry after Piaggio, Honda, Kawasaki and Suzuki. It has operations in some 90 countries and expects to turn out a record one million motorcycles and scooters this year.Mr Holloway says one of the reasons bikes like the Super 8 50 have been popular with local riders is because of the customisable options KYMCO sells. KYMCO will also be bringing in performance parts for the Agility City 50 too.You can check out the complete range of KYMCO bikes at KYMCO’s showroom in Washington Lane.
