Seniors still have an opportunity to attend the second of two free technology events this week to find out about the computerised and digitalised world of the 21st century.

They will be introduced to the newest innovations and shown how to use technologies to surf the internet, how to send emails to their grandchildren, and how to pay bills from a computer screen.

As part of Bermuda's first TechWeek, which started on Monday and runs until Friday, a number of sessions and workshops are being held to introduce residents to information technology (IT) and how it can benefit their daily lives.

Two of those sessions are specifically for seniors as part of a joint initiative by Age Concern Bermuda and the Ministry of the Environment, Telecommunications and E-Commerce.

The first "Tech Tea" was held yesterday, while another takes place this afternoon.

"The events are designed to introduce seniors to the technology topics that affect their lives. The format will be a short presentation on technology information and issues relevant to today's seniors, like security devices and mobile phones. There will be time reserved for a question and answer session as well," said a spokesperson.

"This is an excellent opportunity for seniors to learn something new about an unfamiliar topic, in a comfortable setting along with tea and sandwiches." Today's Tech Tea will be from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Cathedral Hall, Church Street.
