BF&M boosts BSX
A jump in the value of shares of BF&M Ltd. helped to push the Royal Gazette Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) Index up slightly last week.
The insurer saw its share price shoot up 8.45 percent, as it gained $1.50 on the sale of 2,600 shares to finish Friday on $19.25.
Fellow insurer Argus Holdings Ltd. was also at the centre of plenty of trading activity, with 16,500 shares changing hands as it closed the week down 5 cents (0.33 percent) at $15.
Bermuda Press (Holdings) Ltd., parent company of The Royal Gazette and the Mid-Ocean News, gained 25 cents (1.64 percent) to close the week on $15.50, after 32,274 of its shares changed hands.
The biggest trader, as per usual, was Butterfield Bank, which saw 72,359 shares change hands during the four-day trading week and which closed on $60, down 25 cents (0.41 percent).
KeyTech Ltd., owner of the Bermuda Telephone Company, remained unchanged on $15, as 2,000 shares sold.
The BSX Index gained 5.46 points over the week (0.11 percent) to close on 5,148.17. Volume was 125,733 and turnover was $5,171,088. It was closed yesterday for the holiday.
The BSX Insurance Index also recorded gains, closing up 3.39 points (0.26 percent) on 1,283.64.
