Fairmont appoints seven to new positions

Fairmont Bermuda yesterday announced the hiring or promotion of seven employees in the second quarter of 2007.

Elisha Miller, a Bermudian, has been appointed to the position of learning and development manager for the Fairmont Southampton. Ms Miller has a background in preparing and leading seminars as a teaching assistant, organising social events and in coaching staff and new instructors. In her new role, she will be responsible for delivering and facilitating employee programmes and identifying the learning needs for staff development.

Cassius L. Fevriere, a Bermudian, has been appointed to banqueting ma|0xee|tre d' for the Fairmont Hamilton Princess. Mr. Feverie has had more than 18 years of food and beverage experience.

He has held leadership positions with the Marriott Hotel in Bermuda and the Marriott Marquis in Atlanta and worked with Fairmont Hamilton Princess as lounge manager at Heritage Court before joining Elbow Beach as sales and conference manager. In his new role, Mr. Feverie will be responsible for supervising the Fairmont Hamilton Princess catering and convention operation

Lianne Leonardi has been promoted to director of revenue management for the Fairmont Hamilton Princess. Ms Leonardi joined Fairmont Hotels and Resorts in 2002 and worked her way up to accounts receivable clerk at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. Ms Leonardi will be responsible for overseeing the processes associated with demand, forecasting, inventory and opportunity analysis.

Phillip Talbot, a Bermudian, has been appointed assistant banqueting ma|0xee|tre d' for the Fairmont Hamilton Princess. He has more than 26 years of hospitality experience in the restaurant trade. He began his career with the White Sands Hotel as a waiter, has served as general manager of the Robin Hood and from 1995-2007 was the owner/manager of M.R. Onions. In this new Fairmont role, Mr. Talbot will assist with the supervision and support of all colleagues in the banquet department.

Sai Swan, a Bermudian, the new Fairmont Hamilton Princess Gold manager has joined Fairmont after a stint as business development manager with the Bermuda Department of Tourism in Chicago. Previously, he held positions with the Marriott Castle Harbour Resort, the Teaneck Marriott in New Jersey and Atlanta Marriott Norcross, as well as various front office management positions with the Renaissance Concourse Atlanta and Atlanta Marriott Suites - Midtown. In his new position, Mr. Swan will oversee the daily operation of the Fairmont Gold department where he is responsible for service and guest satisfaction.

The Fairmont Hamilton Princess has promoted Severin Gibbons, a Bermudian, to the position of catering sales manager and wedding coordinator. Ms Gibbons previously worked at the Fairmont Southampton, as catering coordinator and has eight years hospitality experience. In this newly created position, Ms Gibbons will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a client base for catering functions. She will work with groups from the contract phase through to the event and check out phase and will also oversee and coordinate weddings at the hotel.

Bermudian Shawn Smith has been appointed as Room Service Captain for the Fairmont Hamilton Princess. Mr. Smith has over nine years of experience in food and beverage. He worked for Marriott as a hospitality food coordinator from 1989 to 1998 and then left to start his own advertising and recording firm. Mr. Smith then returned to the hospitality industry as a bellman for Ariel Sands from 2004-2005 and then worked as a photographer. In the new role, Mr. Smith will handle all guest enquiries and handle the daily operations of the department.
