The last week of 2009 proved to be a busy one, with eight companies trading 22,912 shares worth BD$144,135.10 and 1,710 shares worth US$20,745 on The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX).

The Index, as a whole, fell 22.21 points (1.07 percent) to 2,072.41, while the BSX Insurance Index edged up 0.04 points to 962.06.

The biggest decliner was Bermuda Commercial Bank Ltd. (20 percent), followed by Waltington Waterworks Ltd. (17 percent), Kentucky Fried Chicken Bermuda Ltd. (seven percent) and Butterfield Bank's common shares (1.3 percent).

But Bermuda Press (Holdings) Ltd. was up four percent and KeyTech Ltd. 0.6 percent.

Other traders included Argus Group Holdings Ltd. (59 shares) and Butterfield Bank's preference shares (10 shares), but both of their share values remained unchanged.
