Accenture to add 1,000 jobs

Accenture Ltd., the world?s second- largest consultant, plans to add 1,000 jobs in Germany, Switzerland and Austria as it expands to meet growing demand for advice in areas such as outsourcing and technology. The Bermuda-based company, which serves German clients including Deutsche Bank AG, Siemens AG and DaimlerChrysler AG, will hire in all consulting areas, it said in a faxed statement. Three-quarters of the new jobs will be filled with academic- degree holders and ?young professionals? who have between one and three years of relevant experience, the company said.
Accenture currently employs 4,000 people at offices in Frankfurt, Berlin, Munich, Dusseldorf, Zurich and Vienna. Formerly named Andersen Consulting, the company split from accounting group Andersen Worldwide SC in 2000 and became publicly held in 2001 through a $1.7 billion initial stock sale. On November 12, the company said it plans to expand in China, more than doubling its workforce in the country from 1,600 to 4,000 by 2007. In the same week, it won a contract to help the Shanghai Stock Exchange install Xetra.
