BAS pushes BSX down

The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index fell 4.64 points to 3,986.37 yesterday as Bermuda Aviation Services shares fell.

BAS closed down $1 or 12.5 percent to $7 from its 52-week high on volume of just 200 shares.

All other trading on the Exchange was in Butterfield Bank shares, which closed unchanged at $46.55 on volume of 27,717 shares.

The value of all trading was $1.29 million.

International companies based in Bermuda had a mixed day, with ACE gaining 1.56 percent to close at $53.96 and IPC Re up 1.45 percent to $28.63. Partner Re also gained 1.4 percent to close at $65.36.

Aspen was battered again, falling 2.43 percent to $23.30, as was Montpelier Re, which was down 2.07 percent to $17.04. Axis Specialty fell 1.9 percent to close at $29.92 while troubled Quanta was down 1.71 percent to $4.59.
