Bermuda Insurance Institute's Accounting for Loss Portfolio Transfers & Premium Deficiency seminar, is being offered on two different dates, February 22 and March 22. This seminar will take the audience through the basic concepts of risk transfer and will build on this topic culminating in a detailed discussion of recognition of revenues and costs associated with reinsurance contracts, both prospective and retroactive. It will also cover US GAAP requirements relating to premium deficiency and the practical approach to identifying premium deficiency.

A second seminar, SOP98-7 Deposit Accounting seminar is scheduled for Thursday March 10 from 8:45am-12:00noon at the BII. It will take the audience through the basic concepts of risk transfer (FASB113 - 9a and 9b) and will build on this topic culminating in a detailed discussion of accounting treatments of risk free insurance and reinsurance policies and financial statement presentation.
