Registration for this term's BERMUDA INSURANCE DIPLOMA COURSES takes place January 17-21. The course offerings, which start up mid-February, include PROPERTY AND LIABILITY INSURANCE PRINCIPLES which includes the basic principles of insurance, an overview of the nature and operation of the insurance business and an introduction to insurance contracts. PERSONAL INSURANCE explores personal insurance including property, liability, auto; homeowners, personal loss exposures, life, health, disability and financial planning. COMMERCIAL INSURANCE explores commercial coverage including property, business income, inland and ocean marine, crime, boiler and machinery, general liability, auto, workers compensation, farm and business owners, as well as miscellaneous liability coverages, surety, and excess and surplus lines. THE BERMUDA INSURANCE MARKET course covers the development of the Bermuda Insurance Market; Bermuda's Legal System and Legislation; Captives; Reinsurance and Alternate Risk/Finance Transfer. IIA COURSES include LIABILITY CLAIMS PRACTICES dealing with investigation, evaluation of damages, litigation management, auto/home/commercial liability and coverages issues, settlement and ADR strategies and case studies. REINSURANCE PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES covers introduction to reinsurance, types of reinsurance and reinsurance program design, the reinsurance placement process, common reinsurance treaty clauses, quota share treaties, surplus share treaties, property per risk excess of loss treaties, casualty excess of loss treaties, catastrophe reinsurance, aggregate excess of loss treaties, reinsurance audits, reinsurance regulation, reinsurance aspects of the NAIC Annual Statement and reserves. RISK FINANCING ARM covers insurance as a risk financing technique; reinsurance and self insurance, retrospective rating plans and captive insurance companies, finite and integrated risk insurance plans, capital market products, forecasting accidental losses, accounting and income tax aspects, claim administration and allocating risk management costs.

CPCU COURSES include RISK MANAGEMENT, INSURANCE AND PROFESSIONALISM, which covers the foundations of risk management & insurance as well as ethical practices. THE LEGAL ENVIRONMENT OF RISK MANAGEMENT AND INSURANCE course covers the legal system; criminal law, international torts, negligence, product and professional liability, contracts, real property, credit and bankruptcy, principal and agent, employment law, business entities, corporate management and shareholder rights, consumer protection and insurance law. BUSINESS AND FINANCIAL ANALYSIS FOR RISK MANAGEMENT AND INSURANCE PROFESSIONALS covers corporate finance, financial statements and taxes, time value of money, discounted cash flow valuation, interest rates, bond valuation, stock valuation, net present value, other investment criteria, capital investment decisions, project analysis and evaluation, capital market history, risk metrics, cost of capital, financial leverage, capital structure policy, cash and liquidity management, financial engineering and mergers and acquisitions. COMMERCIAL LIABILITY RISK MANAGEMENT AND INSURANCE covers liability loss exposures, risk control, CGL, business auto, garage and motor carrier, workers' compensation and employers' liability, professional liability, environmental insurance, aviation, marine, excess and umbrella liability and advanced risk management techniques.
