Insurance Induction Seminar for Affiliated Professionals
February 22 & 24. At the Bermuda Insurance Institute (BII).
This seminar provides an overview of the Bermuda Insurance Market and is designed for accountants, bankers, lawyers, human resource managers, information systems personnel and insurance employees with two or more years experience in the industry.

Stepping Into Supervision & Management Level 1
February 20, 21 & 22. An introductory course for recently appointed supervisors and all other supervisors who wish to acquire a basic understanding of the nature and scope of the supervisory management position and its responsibilities, to better prepare them for developing the specific knowledge, attitudes and skills needed to make their efforts productive.
This programme is the first level in the series of Supervision Development offered by SMCI. Taken alone, participants receive a certificate in Supervisory Development Level I, taken in conjunction with Level II and III, participants receive a Diploma in Supervisory Development.

Administrative Support Level 1

Top Notch Telephone Techniques
February 27. At the Bermuda Employers Council. Top Notch Telephone Techniques will make a dramatic difference in the way employees deal with customers, clients, fellow employees and prospects on the phone.

Sales Techniques
February 28. At the Bermuda Employers Council. Every day retail businesses lose thousands of dollars because their salespeople have never been trained in selling techniques. Good customer service alone does not do the job, from first contact with the customer, trained salespeople must begin closing the sale.
This sales programme educates and motivates lethargic retail salespeople. Through lecture, films, exercises and role play, the participants will dramatically increase your sales by learning these sales skills to name but a few.

Advanced Negotiation Skills
March 2. At the Bermuda Insurance Institute. This programme is only for alumni of the basic negotiation programme. Reinforcing lessons learned in the first program, Advanced Negotiation takes participant skills to the next level.
The course introduces essential new concepts and tools, typically including Strategic Relationship Mapping, the Three Buckets for effective decision-making, the Four Ps of effective meeting planning and execution, and more.

Conflict Management
March 3. At the Bermuda Insurance Institute. This workshop helps ground participants in the basic theory of conflict management.
Conflict is defined and the costs and benefits of conflict are examined. Instructors introduce the concept of thinking about conflict from three perspectives: how it looks from our point of view, from theirs, and from an outside third party's.
This course emphasises the development of "third perspective" skills to improve negotiation, communication, and mediation skills.

Captive Insurance Companies Association's International Conference
March 8-10 in Orlando, Florida. More than 400 captive insurance and risk retention group representatives are expected at the Association's 34th Annual International Conference.
Basics of Reinsurance
April 12. At the Bermuda Insurance Institute (BII). This seminar introduces participants to the principles and functions of reinsurance. It will take participants through the basic concepts of reinsurance and its uses and will include a detailed discussion of the types of reinsurance that is available, its advantages and disadvantages.
