Bermuda College graduate gets PartnerRe scholarship
When Alexander Butterfield completes his university education in the US he should be well-placed to enter the world of big business, and he can thank a Bermuda-based reinsurance for giving him a helping hand to cover the cost of enrolling at Georgia State University in Atlanta.
The Bermuda College graduate Mr. Butterfield already has an associate degree in business administration and intends to complete an Actuarial Science programme at the US university.
PartnerRe has announced that Mr. Butterfield is the third person to be awarded the PartnerRe Undergraduate Scholarship.
Announcing the award, PartnerRe Scholarship Committee chairperson Tanika Williams, said: ?PartnerRe has a long term commitment to supporting education in Bermuda and this scholarship will give Alexander the necessary tools to shape his future.
?Alexander is a well rounded individual who was chosen based on academic standing, leadership, community involvement and financial need. We wish him all the best with his future studies.?
Accepting the award, Mr. Butterfield said: ?I am very grateful. PartnerRe has made a significant financial contribution towards my future and, in turn, I plan to contribute back to the Bermuda community. I will not let PartnerRe down.?
As part of the award Mr. Butterfield will have an opportunity to work in one of PartnerRe?s overseas offices during the final summer before he completes his university degree.
