Bermudians have one of the best telephone directories in the world - and that's official.

The Bermuda Telephone Directory has won again at the Association of Directory Publishers Annual 2002 Convention and Publishers Trade Show held in Ft. Meyers Florida last month.

Island Press Ltd. and the 2002-2003 BTC Bermuda Telephone Directory received three Association of Directory Publishers Gold Book awards for dedication, hard work and innovation.

The Bermuda directory won first place for overall Directories of 50,001-80000 circulation range. The judging criteria are appearance, community information, special features and dollars per book circulated. The directory also won first place for Innovative Product, which is judged on how well it enhances directory usage or advances the state of the art directory sales and//or publishing.

A third place award in Enhancements and Usage Drivers was also presented for the information and features included in the directory. These were judged on how effectively they increased directory usage. Ken Martin, directory publishing manager at Island Press, said: "This proves not only to our industry peers but also to the people of Bermuda that we have the finest directory in the world." For the last two years the BTC Bermuda Telephone Directory has won various awards from the Association of Directory Publishers as well as from the Web Printing Association for Best Bound Product. The directory is produced by Island Press Ltd. for the Bermuda Telephone Company. The Association of Directory Publishers is a trade organisation comprised of about 225 directory publishers and related companies.
