Bermynet.com passes milestone

Bermynet.com, one of the Island's most popular lifestyle websites yesterday passed half a million hits since its launch on January 1, 2000.

Creator of the site, Brenton Richardson - who scooped a host of awards at the first annual WebsAwards in January including the best community website, the best living website, the best news website and the People's Choice award for the best website - said: "Since day one we never thought we would reach this far, but it is because of the people that work alongside myself that make it really what it is today."

Mr. Richardson said the site had evolved since its launch and now included articles ranging from tips on where to eat to news, financial advice, interviews with members of the community and poles.

However, the most popular part of the site said Mr. Richardson was the photos from different bars, nightclubs and party venues around the Island. "We try to get something new on there every week," he said yesterday, and also said he hoped to post photos of different aspects of the Island's culture as the site matures.

A new slogan for the website is "Bermuda lives at bermynet.com," and Mr. Richardson said people would be out during the Cup Match holiday taking photos to put on the website reflecting how Bermudians live.
