BF&M falls as BSX slips
The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index fell 5.64 points yesterday to close at 4,436.41.
On a moderate day of trading, BF&M traded down 50 cents from its record high of $18.50 to close at $18 on volume of 1,000 shares.
Butterfield Bank traded in 18,754 shares to close unchanged at $57 and KeyTech was unchanged at $12.70 on volume of 1,100 shares. The total value of shares bought and sold on the BSX yesterday was $1,100,903.50 and the overall volume of shares was 20,854.
Bermuda insurers and reinsurers listed on overseas stock markets were mixed yesterday as Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke?s statement that the Fed might take a pause from inetrest rate hikes was offset by mixed first quarter earnings reports.
American International gained 90 cents to close at $64.94 and RenaissanceRe gained 66 cents to close at $41.94.
But Platinum dropped $1.39 to close at $27.79 and Aspen was down $1.16 to $23.76 after releasing its first quarter results.
