Cellular One, Cable & Wireless and North Rock Communications have the highest shares of the market in their respective sectors of the telecommunications business, according to a recent survey.

Cell phone provider Cellular One has 43.8 percent of its sector, compared to 34.4 percent for BTC Mobility/M3 and 21 percent for Digicel.

But Digicel and Cellular One were in a satistical dead heat for customer satisfaction, according to the Research Innovations poll.

Digicel edged Cellular One with with 35.1 percent of Digicel customers saying they were ?very satisfied? with their cellular or wireless provider compared to 34.8 percent for Celular One. For both companies, 61 percent said they were ?somewhat satisfied?. Satisfaction figures for M3 were not given.

Among long distance provides, Cable & Wireless boasted 48.5 percent of the market while TeleBermuda International had 29.5 percent. North Rock and Logic Communications, which both offer Internet long distance phone services had 13.5 percent and 8.5 percent of the market respectively.

However, TeleBermuda customers reported the highest satisfaction levels in the sector, with 56.4 percent indicating that in general they are ?very satisfied? with their long-distance provider. A further 38.6 percent were ?somewhat satisfied?. Results for C&W were not released.

North Rock had the highest share of the market among Internet Service Providers, with 47.4 percent, while Logic had 32.5 percent. The ?big two? were followed by Transact (9.6 percent) Fort Knox (7.9 percent), ?Others? (1.8 percent) and C&W, which manly provides services to businesses at 0.9 percent.

But Logic customers reported the highest satisfaction levels among Internet users, with 43.6 percent indicating that in general they were ?very satisfied? while 51.8 percent reported they were ?somewhat satisfied.? Satisfaction levels for other providers were not provided.

The survey, which polled 502 residential users in November, 2005, measured market share, satisfaction levels in different areas of product and service delivery and offers a side by side comparison of companies by industry sector.
