Breaking News: Argus announces $6.6m half-yearly earnings

Argus Group Holdings Ltd. today announced earnings of $6.6 million for the six months ended September 30.

This compared to net earnings of $12.2 million in the same period last year, a profit driven by the $10.2 million change in the fair value of investments. This year the change in the value of investments was “minimal”, the insurer said.

The company said operating earnings were strong and health claims fell to “normal levels” compared to last year’s unusually high levels.

Trading of Argus shares on the Bermuda Stock Exchange has been suspended since August because of an administrative error in informing shareholders in time of the company’s annual general meeting.

The suspension is expected to be lifted following approval of measures to solve the problem at the AGM next Monday.
