BSX falls, but Masters soars 37.5 percent

The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index fell 26.324 points last week to close at 3,807.32 as stocks were mixed.

Masters Limited soared $4.50 or 37.5 percent to close at an all-time high of $16.50 on volume of 1,000 shares.

And Butterfield Bank rose 40 cents to close at a 52-week high of $46 as investors traded in 15,698 shares.

And Kentucky Fried Chicken gained 40 cents to close at $6 ? also a 52-week high ? with 1,500 shares trading.

The big gains were offset by some equally big declines in other sectors.

BF&M, which recently close the purchase of a majroity share of a Barbados insurer, fell $2 or 10.81 percent to close at $17.50 on volume of 604 shares, while Argus fell 25 cents to close at $26.75 as 1,779 shares changed hands.

Bermuda Commercial Bank Bermuda Commercial Bank declined $1 or 11.11 percent to close at $8 as investors traded in 1,940 shares.

Telecommunications group KeyTech Ltd. declined $1 or 7.69 percent to close at $12 on volume of 3,000 shares.

Bermuda Container Line held at $14.95 on volume of 90 shares and Belco Holdings remained unchanged at $40.40 as 2,238 shares changed hands.

Watlington Waterworks also remain unchanged at $12.50 as investors traded in 900 shares and Devonshire Industries remained unchanged at $14.25 as 100 shares changed hands.

The total value of shares traded was $966,201.55 and the overall volume of shares was 28,939.
