BSX hits another high

The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index reached another all-time high yesterday, jumping 17.06 points to 3,631.50. For the week the Index was up 22.912 points.

Three stocks rose and none declined with telecommunications group KeyTech Ltd. leading the way. The owner of BTC, Mobility and Logic and the part-owner of Bermuda CableVision and QuoVadis surged 45 cents or 4.4 percent to close at $10.75 on heavy volume of 34,798.

Also rising were Bermuda Commercial Bank, up $1 or 13.3 percent to $8.50 on volume of just 100 shares, and Bermuda Press (Holdings) Ltd. which edged up 10 cents to $13.10 on volume of 600 shares. Total volume was 35,498 shares worth $382,739.05.

The Bermuda Insurance Index rose 9.13 points to close at 1,144.66.

Among the big gainers were Partner Re, up 1.64 percent to $62.10, Max Re, which gained 1.51 percent to close at $22.90 and IPC Re, which closed at $41.14, up 1.45 percent. Decliners included Primus, down 11.54 percent to $10.80 after falling 5.41 percent on Thursday and fellow surety guaranty insurer Assured Guaranty, down 0.89 percent to $22.16.
