BSX jumps to 52-week high

The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index soared more than 100 points yestreday as trading returned with a vengeance.

The index gained 104.53 points, or 3.2 percent to close at a 52 week high of 3,367.95 on volume of 3,635 shares.

Leading the charge higher was the insurance sector, with Argus Insurance gaining $4 or ten percent to close at $29, a 52 week high, and BF&M Ltd. gaining $1.90 or 16.1 percent to close at $14.50.

The Bank of Butterfield gained $0.50 or 1.2 percent to close at $42.50, which was also a 52 week high. Other issues traded included Bermuda Container Line, gaining 1.9 percent to close at $12.75, Key Tech Holdings Ltd which gained one percent to close at $10.25, and Belco Holdings Ltd, gaining 2.3 percent to close at $42, also a 52 week high.
