BSX slips for week

The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index last week fell 0.371 points to close on Friday at 3,304.16.

The BSX was closed for trading on Thursday due to an Island-wide power failure after an explosion and system failure at Belco.

For the week, LOM (Holdings) Ltd. saw the highest level of activity with 13,200 shares being bought and sold on Friday, while investors pushed up the share price 20 cents to $3.

Butterfield Bank saw 5,746 shares trade. The bank's shares fell 50 cents last week to $41.

In the domestic insurance sector, BF&M Ltd. investors traded 1,100 shares, while the share price rose $2.30, or almost 18 percent, to $15.40 by the close of the BSX on Friday.

And 100 shares of Argus insurance traded while falling 70 cents to $26.30.

Kentucky Fried Chicken Bermuda Ltd. investors bought and sold 100 shares while the shares closed up 50 cents at $5.50.

In total, 20,264 shares were traded last week worth a total of $296,726.
