As Closet Creations celebrates ten years in Bermuda owner Joe McGann has carved a niche expanding closet space for large and small homes.

With an increasing number of women in the workforce and professionals wanting to maintain proper business attire, an organised closet is essential Mr. McGann said.

"People are much more fashion conscious than they used to be and are looking to expand their closet space to utilise the space they have in an organised way," Mr. McGann said.

"Design is most important as customers and an organised closet will force a customer to be tidy."

He has been designing closet space for twenty five years, starting with Closet Creations in Florida and now in Bermuda.

The business started in November 1995 in Camp Hill Warwick and is now based in Somerset main road.

Mr. McGann said ordinarily a builder will provide one shelf and a hanging pipe for hanging clothes which means that a lot of closet space is not utilised, whereas Mr. McGann will design customised interiors aimed at utilising space in the closet.

"I will go into a closet, strip it and maximise capacity perhaps more than three times the original space. The units I build are not pre-fabricated and are built and installed here in Bermuda."

The company can build drawers for small items such as lingerie, adjustable shelving or rods for folded clothes, shoes, hand bags, and brief cases.

Mr. McGann has also designed closets with built-in filing cabinets or safes, for tie or belt racks.

Closet Creations is not a retail store but his brand of personal service means that he will make prompt house calls to take measurements, discuss the customers space requirements and oversee installation.

"There is an increasing awareness among developers of the concept of closet space."

Mr. McGann has worked alongside architects, interior designers, general contractors and developers.

Major projects undertaken by Closet Creations have included Mount Wyndham Condo units in Hamilton Parish, Olive Bank in Warwick, Woodbourne Apartments, Tuckers Point and Belmont Villas.

"I have built closets in Fairylands, Tuckers Town and Point Shares but I have also built closets in some of the most humble properties in Bermuda but the end result is that nobody is disappointed."
