Appleby Spurling Hunter
Appleby Spurling and Hunter has announced the promotion of Jennifer S. Eve to the position of associate member of the Funds & Investment Services Team. Jennifer joined the group as a pupil in November 2003 and was called to the Bermuda Bar in November 2004.
She will practice in the area of company and commercial law where she will specialise in the formation and administration of corporate vehicles, the incorporation and share offerings of funds and the establishment of limited partnerships.
Managing Partner Peter Bubenzer said: "I would like to congratulate Jennifer on this achievement and to welcome her as an Associate member of the firm. This is an important step in her career and her professional development, and we look forward to her continued contribution to the Funds Team and the firm as a whole"
Jennifer was educated in Bermuda, Canada and the UK, graduating from Dalhousie University with a B.A. in History and an LLB (Hons) from the University of Kent at Canterbury. She also earned an LL.M degree in corporate law at the Nottingham Law School.
Jennifer also completed the Bar Vocational Course at BPP Law School (London) and was called to the bar of England and Wales in July 2003. Jennifer is also a member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn.
HSBC offers new Travellers Checks
The Bank of Bermuda yesterday announced the introduction of American Express Traveller's Checks, now available to customers in US and Canadian dollars, Pounds Sterling as well as, for the first time, Euros.
In keeping with the HSBC Group standard, Bank of Bermuda has changed its Traveller's Check offerings from Visa to American Express. Richard Brown, Head of Personal Financial Services said: "We are very pleased to introduce the benefits of American Express Traveller's Checks to our customers. "They are safer than cash, easily refundable, readily accepted world-wide and are being offered to customers at a 50 percent reduced service fee."
Mr. Brown added: "Our customers have expressed a keen interest in Euro Traveller's Checks and we are pleased to be able to respond to their needs and offer them the opportunity to purchase Euro American Express Traveller's Checks."
Available to be purchased this week, The Traveller's Checks can be purchased from the Bank's Head Office, Church Street, Somerset and St. George's branches.

W.P. Stewart, a Bermuda-based asset management company, has announced that Mark Phelps has accepted the position of Director of Global Investments at the company's London research and portfolio management subsidiary, W.P. Stewart & Co. (Europe), Ltd.
