The Argus Group has apppointed Sheena Smith as vice president finance effective December 5.Mrs. Smith will be responsible for directing and coordinating the company's financial affairs, corporate guidelines, and internal controls.This includes the preparation of financial reports, analysis, budgets, forecasts and strategic plans. She will report to chief financial officer, David Pugh.

The Argus Group has apppointed Sheena Smith as vice president finance effective December 5.

This includes the preparation of financial reports, analysis, budgets, forecasts and strategic plans. She will report to chief financial officer, David Pugh.

A Bermudian, Mrs. Smith joins the Argus Group from ACE Ltd., where she was assistant manager, group reporting and assistant vice president.

She started her career at the Bank of Bermuda before joining Price Waterhouse where she qualified as a Chartered Public Accountant.

After gaining her professional designation she worked in the Accountant General's Department as a trainee management accountant before joining ACE in 1999.

Carole Holding has launched a new Christmas dessert cake made with Bacardi Gold rum and will be be offering a free tasting of her new product today.

Mrs. Holding developed the recipe for the new Christmas dessert cake in her own kitchen using ingredients such as cherries, pineapple, dates, raisins, walnuts and pecans and Bacardi Gold rum.

Orders for the delicious, light tasting cake are now being taken at any of Carole Holding stores or by e-mail at caroleholdingbermuda.com.

The Christmas dessert cake is available in two sizes. The eight ounce Christmas dessert cake comes in a gold box and sells for $9.75.

The four pound Christmas dessert cake sells for $46.75 and comes in a gold tin.

Mrs. Holding said: “As a trained chef, I spend a lot of time developing recipes and creating desserts that I love to try out on my family and friends.

“Every once in a while, I know I've produced something extra special that I want to share with Bermuda residents and visitors to the Island.”

Mrs. Holding invited members of the public to sample the cake which will be served with Dunkley's milk in the morning and Dunkley's eggnog later in the day at a taste testing that will be held today from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at 81 Front Street, Hamilton.

PartnerRe Ltd. has appointed Abigail Clifford as chief human resources officer effective July 1 next year.

Ms Clifford will be responsible for shaping the strategic direction of PartnerRe's human resources programmes, including overseeing all human resource programmes and systems.

These responsibilities include compensation programmes, expatriate programmes and management and organisational development for the Group's operations.

Ms Clifford, a Bermudian, joined PartnerRe in 1999 and has held several human resource

positions within the company.

This has included the role of human resource manager with responsibility for the company's Bermuda and UK offices and the position of director of group organisational development.

In this position she was instrumental in creating and implementing the worldwide management development and continuity initiatives.

Most recently Ms Clifford has been working in the US office as director of human resources for PartnerRe's US, investments and ART units.
