Elbow Beach has appointed Bermudian Michael Morris to senior ma?tre d?hotel of the Veranda Bar & Lounge and Blue Point Pool Bar & Grill.
In his new position, Mr. Morris oversees all food and beverage, marketing and promotion of both resort outlets while working with the director of food & beverage and the communications manager. Mr. Morris will manage 20 staff. In 2004, he was voted Manager of the Year at Elbow.
He joined Elbow Beach eight years ago as assistant ma?tre d?hotel in the Sea horse Grill, the hotel?s signature restaurant.
Mr. Morris has over 20 years experience in the hospitality industry, starting at Lantana as a waiter. He attended Warwick Secondary, Warwick Academy, and the Bermuda College and has completed the basic supervisory course with the Employers? Council, several management courses and participated in overseas training at Mandarin Hotels in London and Miami.

Mello Jones & Martin Barristers and Attorneys have appointed of Peter Weedon as Practice Director, effective January 9.
In his new role, Mr. Weedon will be responsible for the business management and strategic planning for the firm, and his remit includes finance, IT, marketing, human resources and facilities.
He will work with the eight partners in managing the firm, and will be supported by the administrative team and will report to the Partners of the firm.
Prior to joining Mello Jones & Martin, for five years Mr. Weedon was on contract with the Bermuda Government as a Management Consultant with the Department of Management Services.
In his capacity, Mr. Weedon worked with various Government organisational units such as the Attorney General?s Chambers, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Environment, and the Ministry of Labour, among other departments.
Prior to moving to Bermuda, Mr. Weedon worked for the Monitor Company, a global strategy consulting leader based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
For 20 years prior to that he was with Grant Thornton LLP a Canadian chartered accounting firm in its management consulting practice and for three years he was the firm?s Managing Partner in the Halifax consulting office with four partners and eight other professionals.
Mr. Weedon holds a Master?s degree in Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business, York University, Toronto. He is a Certified Management Consultant and was made a Fellow in 1990.

Swiss Re Capital Management and Advisory (CMA) have appointed Brian O?Hearne to the position of Managing Director, Environment and Commodity Markets. The 20 year veteran of the energy and risk management field, will be responsible for overseeing the team?s North American activities. He will focus on weather and commodity trading, business and product development and risk management.
In his new role, Mr. O?Hearne will report to Juerg Trueb, Swiss Re Global Head of Environmental And Commodity Markets, and Dan Ozizmir, CMA Group Head of Asset-Backed Securities/Insurance Linked Securities and Environmental and Commodity Markets.
Mr. O?Hearne is currently president of the Weather Risk Management Association, the global industry association, and holds LLM, MBA, JD and Chemistry degrees from the University of Missouri at Kansas City.
?Brian brings to Swiss Re a wealth of experience and expertise to this position,? Mr. Trueb said. ?His previous work in the weather and commodities areas will be a significant asset to our growing programme.?
Mr. O?Hearne?s team will be responsible for Swiss Re?s trading and risk taking capabilities in the weather, outage-contingent commodity and emissions markets.
In Mr. O?Hearne?s previous position as CEO and president of GuaranteedWeather, he led the convergence of the commodity, capital and insurance markets with weather and commodity trading and risk management activities. Mr. O?Hearne is the former president and CEO of Aquila Re Limited and Aquila Merchant Services-International based in Bermuda.

Specialty Risk Services (SRS) has formed a new claims administration agreement and partnership with Arch Insurance Group.
Under the terms of the agreement, Arch will utilise SRS? claims management expertise to service property and casualty insurance programmes underwritten by Arch.
The arrangement includes workers? compensation, automobile, general and product liability, integrated disability, claim administration and risk management services.
?The alliance with SRS expands our relationship focus and flexible service approach by jointly developing customised casualty programs that meet our customers? unique business needs,? Stephen Cotnoir, senior vice president, Arch Insurance Group said.
