Endurance appoints Bermudian Morgan to top healthcare job
Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd. has appointed Kimberly Morgan as practice leader for the company’s Bermuda healthcare practice.
Ms Morgan, a senior vice-president, who is Bermudian, has almost 20 years of industry experience, including seven years as an underwriter with Endurance.
In her new role, she will be responsible for managing the Bermuda healthcare practice, which specialises in providing third party excess liability coverage for large integrated healthcare delivery systems with sophisticated risk management programmes.
Ms Morgan said as a Bermudian she felt very fortunate to have such a dynamic re/insurance market on the Island’s doorstep, but added that the market was competitive and in order to succeed the ability to demonstrate initiative and willingness to learn from experienced professionals was essential.
“One of the key differentiators for me was in gaining overseas experience in the US as well as London which was critical to my professional as well as personal development,” she said.
“I believe the better able you are to equip yourself with the skills to compete not only with an international labour force but also an international marketplace, the more valuable you make yourself to your employer who in turn tends to recognise that value with opportunity.”
Speaking about her new role, she said: “I am delighted with the appointment and look forward to working with our clients, brokers and Endurance Risk Solutions colleagues in this new capacity.”
The healthcare practice is a key part of Endurance Risk Solutions, the company’s retail casualty business, along with excess casualty and professional liability practices.
Judy Hart, executive vice-president and head of Endurance Risk Solutions, said: “Kim has built strong relationships in the healthcare insurance industry and a deep understanding of our clients’ risk management needs based on her experience as both a broker and underwriter. Under Kim’s leadership, I am confident that we will continue to provide excellent specialty underwriting to our healthcare clients. I look forward to working closely with Kim as she leads this important specialty area for Endurance.”
Ms Morgan has held positions with specialty brokers J&H Intermediaries and Marsh & McLennan global broking from 1990 to 1999 in Bermuda, when she assumed the role of vice-president and healthcare broker at Marsh, working first in the US and then in its London office.
Ms Morgan joined Endurance’s Bermuda healthcare insurance practice in January 2003.
She is an associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and served as president of the Bermuda Society for Healthcare Risk Management from January 2007 to January 2009.
