Fisher secures ACE promotion
Bermudian Chris Fisher has been appointed to the position of senior vice-president in ACE Bermuda's property department.
In his new role Mr. Fisher takes on responsibility for the management of ACE Bermuda's global property and first party specialty lines business. He succeeds Klaus Gebhardt who was recently appointed chief underwriting officer of ACE Latin America.
Mr. Fisher recently returned to Bermuda after completing a two-year secondment at ACE USA's global property office in Chicago, where he served as regional underwriting manager, responsible for mid-west and west coast property operations.

Mr. Fisher began his career with ACE Bermuda in 1995 as an underwriter in the company's excess liability department. In 1997 he undertook a year's secondment to ACE Global Markets' operations in Lloyds of London, where he worked with marine and non-marine syndicates. Upon his return to Bermuda in 1998, Mr. Fisher joined ACE Bermuda's property department as an assistant vice-president. He was promoted to vice-president in 1999, responsible for various underwriting, catastrophe modelling and outwards reinsurance functions.
Prior to joining ACE Bermuda, Mr. Fisher spent five years at BF&M General Insurance Co. Ltd. in various underwriting departments. He is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) and holds a bachelor of arts degree in Geography from St David's University College, Wales.

Computer security specialist QuoVadis has added Bermudian Michael W. Branco to its IT security team.
Mr. Branco will be responsible for outgoing development of the QuoVadis Trust/Link platform and other security technologies, as well as for customer integration efforts, the company said in a press release.
Mr. Branco holds a degree in Computer Science from Western University and is currently working toward a M.Sc. degree from Stanford University in California.
He has previously worked as a senior enterprise architect at Promisant, developing the company's payment gateway platform, and as a consultant for Ernst & Young.
"Michael has the business mindset and advanced software development skills to help our clients prevent, detect and respond to IT threats," said QuoVadis CEO Roman Brunner.
"In particular, his integration will support the growth of our Trust/Link CA both in Bermuda and overseas."
Mr. Branco is also an active volunteer, working with youth education initiatives with the Chamber of Commerce business technology division executive committee, the Ewan Sampson Scholarship outreach committee and with Bermuda Technology Education Collaborative (BTEC).

XL Capital has announced the appointments in its insurance operations of Don Baker, Hans Gmuender and Dennis Nishikawa to new executive broker and client relations positions.
Mr Baker will serve as managing director of broker and client relations for insurance operations in Bermuda, in addition to his recently announced appointment as executive vice-president of XL Insurance (Bermuda).
Mr Gmuender will serve as managing director of broker and client relations for insurance operations in Europe, Asia and South America, in addition to his current role as deputy chief executive of XL's commercial large account insurance business, known as XL Insurance Global Risk.
Mr Nishikawa will serve as managing director of broker and client relations for insurance operations in North America, in addition to his current role as director of North American sales and marketing for XL Insurance Global Risk.
