A federal judge has ordered American International Group, Inc. (AIG) to provide CV Starr & Co., Inc. and Starr International Company, Inc. ?equal access? to their documents.

A statement from Starr said Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein had ordered AIG provide the Starr companies ?equal access? to documents that AIG has withheld.

His order comes more than a year after he made a similar order regarding Starr documents in the wake of AIG?s seizure of Starr International documents overseas.

?We are grateful that the Starr companies will finally have access to their remaining documents, but disappointed that it required almost a year and a half and the intervention of a federal judge to order AIG to comply,? said Howard Opinsky, a spokesman for the Starr companies.

?AIG is not succeeding in its strategy to thwart competition by the Starr Companies through litigation and the misappropriation of documents,? said Mr. Opinsky.
