KFC, BF&M drive BSX up
The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index rose 11.59 points to close at 3,302.80 in thin trading yesterday.
Just 674 shares worth 21,478.0 traded, with both Kentucky Fried Chicken (Bermuda) Ltd. and BF&M Ltd. gaining.
KFC gained 50 cents to close at a 52-week high of $5.50 on volume of 100 shares while BF&M closed up 90 cents at $14 on volume of 100.
index bellwether Bank of Butterfield was unchanged at $41.20 on volume of 474 shares.
The Bermuda Insurance Index, which tracks publicly traded Bermuda-based insurers, fell 3.05 points to 1,128.02 as insurance stocks were mixed.
XL Capital, which issued a profit warning last week, fell 53 cents to $70.42 after two analysts cut their price estimates on the stock.
But RenaissanceRe edged up one cent to $46.91 a day after its share price was battered after the resignation of a senior executive.
