Lloyd?s gets requests from US prosecutors

LONDON (Bloomberg) ? Lloyd's of London, the world's biggest insurance market, has been contacted by US regulators and prosecutors seeking information about so-called finite reinsurance products.

"The inquiry is just an information request," Lloyd's spokeswoman Louise Shield said in a telephone interview yesterday.

Lloyd's asked its 62 member syndicates for information after receiving requests from the US Securities and Exchange Commission and the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Shield said.

Finite risk reinsurance contracts, which cover a set amount of risk, are at issue in income-manipulation probes of companies including American International Group Inc.
