How do you invest? (Stocks, bonds, mutual funds, indices, currency, commodities, property, art, a mix, etc.)

Mainly stocks and a little real estate.

What and when was your first ever investment?

ACE Limited common stock, back in the day (the mid-nineties)... I got employee stock options when I worked for ACE and there was a discounted employee purchase scheme.

Do you do your own investing?

Yes, with the limited help of a broker.

What was the best (most successful) investment you ever made?

ACE Limited (still holding them)

What was the worst (least successful) investment you ever made?

WorldCom! Thanks broker! I bought high and cashed out low, but not at the bottom - before bankruptcy was announced but in the middle of the stock slide. On paper it was a very solid company. I know I'm not alone in thinking that. (But) I never made money on the stock. It started to slide and it got to point where I couldn't afford for it to slide any further.

What was the longest investment you ever made?

ACE Limited (still holding them)

What was the shortest investment you ever made?

A firm called CAIS, a US Internet service provider. In and out in about two months.

Most memorable investing moment?

First payment on our mortgage.

Biggest missed opportunity?

Not having enough cash to buy more ACE when their stock slumped below $20 (ACE shares closed at $33.14 yesterday).

What would you never invest in?

WorldCom.
