PricewaterhouseCoopers appoints senior partner

Bermudian partner Peter Mitchell has been selected to lead the Bermuda arm of PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Mr. Mitchell will today take over as senior partner of PwC's practice which currently comprises 13 partners and a total staff of over 200.

PwC was formed on July 1, 1998 after the merger of international accounting firms Price Waterhouse and Coopers & Lybrand - locally Gray & Kempe and Cooper & Lines.

"We are well positioned to further grow our business, having built significant business lines and market leading expertise," Mr. Mitchell said in a press release. "For example, our tax advisory and compliance practice, our internal audit, actuarial and risk management practices, as well as our human resource and executive search arms allow us to offer a wide array of first-class value-added services to clients."

He added: "I am extremely proud to be assuming this new role, I believe strongly in continuing with our focus on developing talent, specifically the identification and training of Bermudians and aggressively pursuing the business opportunities available to us. It is a truly unique opportunity to lead a team of talented and committed partners and staff as we embrace the challenges of an exciting future."

PwC is the world's largest professional services organisation with more than 125,000 staff in 142 countries.
