AXIS Capital Holdings Limited has seen the departure of one of its board members.

Scott Schoen, who is currently co-president of Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P., a Boston-based private equity firm, stepped down from the AXIS Board of Directors following the sale last week of all remaining AXIS Capital common shares owned by Thomas H. Lee Partners and related entities.

Mr. Schoen served as a director for the Bermuda-based global provider of specialty lines insurance and treaty reinsurance since its formation in November of 2001.

His resignation took effect May 16. The board has no immediate plans to appoint a replacement but plans to appoint a successor to Mr. Schoen as Finance Committee chairman at its next meeting.
