Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd. has named Mark Silverstein as its new chief investment officer.

Mr. Silverstein has 19 years of professional experience in investments, most recently as an executive vice president with XL Investment Management (USA), LLC.

Kenneth J. LeStrange, Chairman, president and chief executive officer, said: ?Mark is a seasoned investment professional.

?His expertise will be a tremendous asset to Endurance, particularly as our invested assets and investment leverage continue to increase.?

Mr. Silverstein has focused on fixed income investments throughout his career which began in 1985 in fixed income research with Credit Suisse First Boston.

In his most recent role at XL Investment Management (USA), he led the structured and spread asset group, which manages $13 billion in assets.

He holds a B.Sc. in urban studies from Cornell University and an MBA in finance from the University of Chicago.
