Solar power burns brights for Bermuda business

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 16: Alternative Energy Systems (Bermuda) Ltd. (AES) today announced that its residential division has installed enough solar power systems to generate a record 50 kilowatts of power for homes in Bermuda, making AES the largest supplier of solar energy on the Island.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the United States, over a 25-year period, 50 kilowatts of solar energy could offset the emission of more than a thousand tons of dangerous pollutants including carbon dioxide (CO2), which is a major contributor to global warming. This reduced carbon dioxide emission alone is equivalent to removing 260 cars from the road or planting almost 15 acres of trees each year.

Tim Madeiros, CEO, Alternative Energy Systems, says: “I am thrilled to have reached this milestone not only because of the hard work I have put into building my business, but also because it shows the growing conscientiousness of Bermuda residents with regards to the environment.”
