SPA WITH A VIEW
he majestic ocean front views of the Serenity Spa at the Pompano Beach Club are drawing in locals and repeat visitors to the Southampton-based resort.
Opened in April the spa has become the first one to be owned and operated by a Bermudian, Nyland Adams.
Ms Adams started working as a massage therapist at the Pompano in one room in 2004 as a service for hotel guests but the popularity of her treatments led to the construction of a new purpose built spa.
?In my first season the Pompano owners were amazed to see how busy I was and so last year the owners of the resort decided to give me an extra room temporarily and I hired two more staff.?
After the Pompano closed down for renovations last November, Ms Adams was invited to run the new spa built in January this year, an opportunity she could not turn down.
?Our returning guests are so thrilled with the spa. The location is serene and it?s so unique to have this view.?
Ms Adams, who has a diploma in massage from the Philadelphia School Of Massage Therapy, has nine years? experience as a massage therapist and has designed a colourful array of treatments.
Mud treatments, body wraps, Chocolate Aroma Massage, Lemongrass Stress Relief Massage, Cabernet Wine Bath And Massage and Honeysuckle Body Scrub are among the most popular choices at the spa.
?We don?t just offer the regular massages, we do a couple?s massage with mud wraps, and baths which are very popular among locals.?
