Star-tling changes!
Four Star Pizza will be undergoing dramatic changes as the chain approached its 15-year anniversary in November.
"People will be able to come in and still order a pepperoni pizza," said owner Marico Thomas, but Four Star is expanding its menu ? and renovating its five locations ? to create more of a casual dining atmosphere.
To reflect the changes, Four Star Pizza will also be getting a new name but yesterday Mr. Thomas said he was not ready to release the new moniker.
The renovations began in the Somerset store, where there is now a new computer system, new flooring, air conditioning, indoor and patio seating and table service. The Somerset location also now has a beer and wine licence.
Mr. Thomas said they have a created a "hi-tech store".
And Four Star recently received final Planning permission to conduct renovations to its Flatts location which will include adding a full service dining area, relocation and expansion of the kitchen area, converting cycle livery for restaurant use and storage and creating a staff quarters on the upper level of the North Shore Road building with nine beds.
In order for the renovations to take place, however, a separate application for a building permit must be made and approved.
According to the Certificate of Use and Occupancy Permit, parking and manoeuvring spaces for 11 cars must be included.
The Development Applications Board also stipulated that the dormitory area will be for a maximum of nine staff members who work on the premises.
Any increase in the number of beds will need further application to the DAB.
"We are moving away from being fast food only," said Mr. Thomas. "We are trying to be casual theme restaurant that delivers."
The chain's new expanded menu will include Oriental and Indian foods, Bermudian favourites and gourmet pizzas such as smoked salmon and cheese steak pizzas.
There will also be some kid-friendly offerings like a macaroni and cheese pizza and peanut butter and jelly dessert pizza. Customers will still be able to buy their old favourites, however, Mr. Thomas said.
The chain plans to renovate all its locations in a similar fashion and will also offer catering for parties and events.
Mr. Thomas said a variety of activities are planned to mark the 15th anniversary, and reminded the public that every five years, they give away 500 pizzas to customers.
