Take-away takes off!
The Sung Sing empire of Chinese restaurants has expanded into St George's - and may expand further to the west later this year, according to manager Kevin Lim.
Sung Sing, which has been in Victoria Street for nearly four years, opened a take-away store in St. George's on Friday.
"It has been very, very busy," said Mr. Lim. "We have not even stopped to eat ourselves since it opened."
And now Mr. Lim said he is planning to open another take-away "in the next few months", possibly in Somerset.
The St. George's take-out now has two kitchen staff and one person on the counter as well as Mr. Lim working in the store, which is located opposite the bus stop on York Street.
"I have been told that it is the former site of the Gombey Cafe," added Mr. Lim.
It will be open seven days a week, from 11 a.m.to 11 p.m. from Friday to Saturday and 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday.
At present there is no delivery service, but Mr. Lim said he would like to be able to provide this service if he was able to find staff to man the service.
Mr. Lim said that they had been intending to open the take-out more than a year ago, but there had been delays with equipment, construction and modifications.
